Zoolidays is a children’s book about the animals of a fledgling zoo that is about to close down due to lack of business. Since the animals are all in danger of losing their home they must think how to get the patrons to come back. One night the desperate animals come up with a brilliant idea, a wonderfully creative plan, to save themselves and the zoo. The results were amazing. Zoolidays is masterfully illustrated with loving detail and will nurture creative imagination in children too with its visually memorable and whimsical story.

This book was given to my daughter as a gift. After reading it and being thoroughly enchanted with the illustrations and story I tried to find it to give as a gift. The story is wonderful as it is a great lesson in making changes in life when needed. As stated in other reviews, the illustrations are wonderful, vibrant, interesting and you never tire of them. Be careful though, our daughter (4) surprised us, after our reading the book to her for the 5th time, went to her room, came out with nothing but her underware and her body decorated from neck to foot,in what she exclaimed – Zoolidays!!!
I can’t say enough wonderful things about this book. I tell book stores managers they need to get this book. It is innocent, colorful, and tells a great story. Enjoy this treasure.
I bought this wonderful book for my five-year-old granddaughters and after reading it, wished I had bought one for myself as well! They were completely enthralled with the fine art illustrations and story of the Metro Park Zoo animals working together to jazz up their appearance to save their zoo from closing. The rhythmic cadence makes it a delight for both reader and listener. The story sends an important message of what imaginative thinking and teamwork by little critters can accomplish. The children not only loved the story, but also savored each of the beautiful and enticing illustrations. This book is a must have for your child’s library.
Zoolidays features absolutely amazing watercolors and imaginative illustrations. You are treated to a whole zoo full of incredible, artful creatures. The characters paint themselves full of intricate designs. This book gives children a whole new visual language – one where they learn about pattern and color, shape and design. It is stunning, and I highly recommend it! For young child artists, this is a must have book. One that will inspire them to make their own creative works of art.
What child wouldn’t love to have this book? It is a delight. The illustrations are wonderful. Although the book is recommended for ages 6 to 10, younger children will be enchanted with the pictures and story. It can be a wonderful tool for teaching shapes and colors. A great addition to every library.
The illustrator is actually my drawing teacher at college. I would recommend this book. He’s very passionate about his drawings. Great illustration, and fun story.
